The SELBot was trained on a series of several hundred question-answer pairs. They cover the five main social emotional learning areas identified by CASEL. The questions themselves were developed by a licensed school counselor and mental health therapist with almost 20 years of experience.

We then took all the pairs and, using AI, tuned them to ensure that they would be age-specific. Question-answer pairs written for an 8th grader may not be understood by a 3rd grader.

This version of SELBot is optimized for a 5th grader.
